JinYue Children's Art Museum

We are committed to understanding and honoring every child through the lens of art and with a warm heart.  At JinYue Children’s Art Museum, we believe that childhood is not merely a stage that passes, but a source of strength, imagination, and memory that shapes a lifetime. Through art, we hope to protect the tenderness of childhood and make it one of the most treasured and lasting parts of our lives.

Background

JinYue Children's Art Museum was established in 2021 and is the first non-profit art institution in Sichuan Province dedicated to children. It is not only a space for children's art education and exhibitions, but also a research-oriented platform for exploring children's growth, creativity, and their connection to society.

Mission and Values

Guided by the concept of “child-centeredness,” the Jinyue Art Museum is dedicated to promoting the mental and emotional well-being of children through art. The museum believes that childhood is not an isolated stage, but something deeply intertwined with family, society, and history. The trajectory of each child's growth is like an expansive network, shaped by previous generations and constantly influencing the future.

What are they doing?

Jinyue not only focuses on children's creativity and expression, but also on how they understand themselves and the world around them. It creates a space for children to connect with others, their memories, and their environment. Designed as a neat and playful “empty box”, the museum provides a space full of potential, curiosity, and imagination – a place where all those who have been, are,e or will be children are welcome to grow up happily together.

Reasons for Collaboration

On December 31, 2024, the Jinyue Children's Art Museum officially opened, and its first book-themed curatorial project, “Memory Practice and Memory Research,” was formally launched under the leadership of Wang Hai, Design and Operations Director of Sanlian Taofen Bookstore. This collaboration laid the foundation for the two institutions to collaborate creatively and thematically.

In 2025, the Jinyue Children's Library will offer a year-long residency to several creative research groups and collectives, including Sanlian Think Tank, SITUS, and the Secret Childhood Archive. These organizations will use the library as a living space for cultural production, dialogue, and education.

Given that both the Jinyue Library and the Sanlian Taofen Bookstore focus on books, storytelling, and public education, and have already established a successful partnership, it made perfect sense to continue the collaboration in the Sanlian Taofen Bookstore space in Kuanzhai Alley. The synergy in curatorial concepts, shared values in cultural education, and spatial planning make Jinyue the ideal partner to expand meaningful community-focused cultural activities in this historic district.
