Our Work in Action

Chengdu, a city with a rich history and diverse culture, strives to balance protecting its traditional culture and modern development. Through collaborations with local art institutions such as Sanlian Taofen Bookstore, Chengdu Tianfu Art Museum, and Luxelakes A4 Art Museum, we hope to create a cross-institutional collaboration platform that integrates Chengdu's historical culture with contemporary art, promoting the revival and continuation of local culture. At the same time, this collaboration also allows different cultural institutions to support and complement each other, broadening the paths and channels for cultural promotion.

All About Us

Chengdu Arts Bridge was founded by Yiyi Yang and Joy Li. Our desire to create such a cultural service platform stems from our deep concern for the city's cultural ecology and our sense of responsibility as young creators. During our visit to Kuanzhai Alley, we found that although it remains a significant cultural landmark in Chengdu, its authentic local cultural atmosphere is being gradually replaced by a tourist-oriented business model. The sense of presence of residents here is becoming weaker and weaker, and the space that once carried memories and emotions is being replaced by “check-in consumption”. This phenomenon has caused us to reflect on the question of “who does public cultural space belong to?”

A cultural platform is not just a place to display resources, but also a connector between different institutions, community residents, and artists. Through this platform, we hope to establish a systematic collaboration mechanism so that Chengdu's art institutions will no longer work in isolation but will be able to co-create the city's cultural narrative, share resources, and reach a wider local audience together.

Mission and Values

This project is committed to reviving the cultural spirit and collective memory of Kuanzhai Alley through artistic interventions and community co-creation. In response to the erosion of local identity caused by excessive commercialization, we aim to rebuild Kuanzhai Alley’s sense of cultural belonging, transforming it once again into a public cultural space where both residents and visitors can participate, share stories, and reconnect with the neighborhood's heritage.

  • Community Co-Creation: Empowering local residents to actively participate in shaping their cultural spaces.

  • Cultural Authenticity: Honoring and revitalizing the everyday traditions, stories, and memories of Chengdu

  • Cross-Institutional Collaboration: Building bridges between museums, bookstores, art spaces, and communities to share resources and expand cultural reach.

  • Sustainable Engagement: Developing long-term, rooted cultural practices rather than short-term exhibitions.

  • Accessibility: Making art an inclusive, everyday experience.

Vision

Through art and community co-creation, we envision Kuanzhai Alley becoming once again a vibrant public cultural space for the people of Chengdu — a living cultural site that carries urban memories, fosters a sense of belonging, and bridges the past and the present. We aspire to revitalize the community’s cultural energy, transforming Kuanzhai Alley into more than a tourist landmark, but into a vibrant space where everyday life and cultural heritage intertwine, embodying the diverse spirit of Chengdu.
